Do you conduct feedback discussions in the team, coordinate projects and negotiate with customers? Good communication is the key to successful working relationships. Yet every day we still see how difficult it is to communicate properly, and we repeatedly encounter unpleasant confrontations, misunderstandings or raise issues that seem to be ignored.

The good news: You can learn and practice making your conversational skills (even) better. The first phase helps you assess your own communication habits. From there, we offer you tools and methods to communicate your point of view clearly and succinctly – and do so in a way that is always respectful and appreciative of others. In this way, we help you to achieve better results and improve the acceptance of what you are communicating.

This training is for stakeholders in organisations, teams and networks who are seeking to expand and refine their communication skills.

The goal of the seminar is to achieve an immediate and lasting impact. We start off by introducing the basic principles of interpersonal communication and reflect on your own habits. Once you have acquired this foundation, you apply conversational techniques directly and then get immediate feedback. Once you have a more in-depth understanding and new tools, you will also feel more confident handling difficult situations. At the same time, you will also find it easier to take on the role of mediator in the conflicts of others.

  • Foundations: Communication following the models of F. Schulz von Thun, P. Watzlawick, M.B. Rosenberg und F. Riemann
  • Feedback techniques: Active listening and I-statements
  • Solution-oriented communication: the difference between perception and judgment
  • Non-verbal communication: posture, facial expressions, gestures, voice and presence
  • Explaining yourself clearly and making persuasive arguments: The 5-phrase technique and Hamburg Model
  • Managing conflict: preparing for difficult conversations

We use a combination of input, hands-on exercises, individual reflection and professional feedback. Input sessions provide the impetus for intense exercises using your own topics. By testing out techniques directly and “doing things differently”, you solidify your knowledge directly – specifically in the context of your own work. You participate in assessments and feedback discussions in the group as well as with the trainers to give you a broad range of perspectives for improving your personal communication style.

This training is conducted as an open course in German language only. If you want to participate, please register here.

Dorothee Heidhues and Anna Schulte are both passionate about the topic of communication. They believe it is important to repeatedly show why it is so difficult to facilitate productive discussions and for people to understand each other. To them, it is unfathomable that communication is sometimes referred to, almost condescendingly, as a “soft skill”. They firmly believe it is one of the keys to successful work. In this training, each individual participant will benefit from Dorothee Heidhues’ and Anna Schulte’s passion and genuine interest in the topic – not to mention their many years of experience in consulting and training in a host of different situations around the globe.
