Julia von Kanitz has always believed that you should never put all your eggs in one basket. Life is simply too rich and exciting to focus all of your energies on one thing. This is why she studied communications science at Berlin University of the Arts before then completing another degree – this time in the natural sciences – in sustainability management. She has also completed numerous additional trainings over the years, for example, as a systemic coach, supervisor and crisis interventionist.
Connecting different worlds, working at the points of intersection between them and exploring different worlds is what she loves most. It’s no surprise then that she seized on a number of appealing opportunities, which have included working for a women’s cooperative in Guatemala, starting a street football championship in a township in South Africa, and frequently helping new organizations to deal with their various challenges. Because embracing change has always been a big part of her life, she is particularly adept at putting herself in the position of organizations and people who are facing challenges, so that they can continue to evolve. She knows from her own leadership experience what kinds of changes managers encounter and succeeds in keeping their focus on relevant patterns and obstacles to restore a sense of clarity.
She takes pleasure in constantly approaching things from new angles and is a master of improvisation – something she also likes doing as an avid singer.
