A course in Theory U
The Presencing Foundation Programme
Marian Goodman of the Presencing Institute in Cooperation with denkmodell GmbH

What is it that drives profound change and innovation?
An old question with new dynamics, since Theory U has sparked vivid discussion among decision makers, consultants and scholars across the globe. Change managers of the corporate world design change processes "along the U", civil society organisations seek to initiate "U-processes" for social transformation and public decision makers are inspired by Theory U in discourse, policy formulation and implementation. We believe it's about time to have a closer look:
denkmodell is happy to announce the launch of the Presencing Foundation Programme as a 3 day intensive introduction to concepts and practices of Theory U.
Theory U and Presencing
Theory U is being applied around the world by individuals, organisations and in multi-sector initiatives generating breakthrough possibilities around pressing organisational and social issues.
The focus of this method is on sensing and actualising emerging future opportunities, both individually and collectively. In this Programme you will learn how to sense and seize future opportunities and how to connect to the deeper journey of your personal and professional life in order to become a more effective leader and change-maker in your work environment.
Through interactive presentations, reflective exercises, case clinics, and embodiment practices, you will learn and apply the seven capacities of the deep leadership cycle that help change-makers to transcend old behaviour patterns, realise new possibilities, and enable transformation and innovation. You will learn to pay attention to what's going on in ways that lead to the opening of the mind, heart, and will. This holistic opening constitutes a shift in awareness: participants recognise the future in the present moment and learn to act from that spark of the future as it emerges.
Participants will learn and apply interdependent elements of the U-Process/ Presencing:
- Four levels of responding to change
- Four types of listening and conversation
- Three (inner) instruments: Open Heart, Open Mind, Open Will
- Accessing and bringing forth one’s authentic Self
- Overcoming three barriers in one’s inner work
- Five movements of Presencing as a social technology for change: co-initiating, co-sensing, co-inspiring, co-creating,
co-evolving
During the month prior to the course there will be online small group preparatory sessions with the facilitator(s) in order to mutually clarify expectations and starting points.
Target Group
The Presencing Foundation Programme addresses organisation leaders, teams, line managers, internal and external OD and HR professionals and individuals interested in leading for profound change and innovation.
Tandems
We highly recommend that you attend with a thinking partner to form a tandem. As a consultant you may want to attend with a client who would like to apply this approach to an important innovation or change effort. We have found that such tandems make work easier and more effective, with teams providing mutual support in the process.
Please note that the Presencing Foundation Programme is open exclusively to members of the denkmodell network plus their tandem partners. Please indicate your tandem during registration, if applicable.
